Lovelight Farms | Book Review

We don't feel weird about this morning. And it's weird not to feel weird. But it's a good weird. B.K. Borison

My first ever audiobook is Lovelight Farms, and I loved the narration by Pippa Jayne.

Stella runs a Christmas tree farm that has several red flags, so it's difficult to expand further. To keep the farm in good condition until the next season, she entered the annual small business sweepstakes contest by fabricating a story that she runs the farm with her boyfriend on the application. Later, she asks his best friend Lukas to pretend to be a fake boy friend for a week. Lukas agrees instantly, and they start fake dating. She has had a crush on him since they met, but she doesn't want to risk their friendship, so she usually hides her feelings.

Is she going to win the contest? or how she is going to float her farm for at least another season? Is she going to resolve the property damages? Is Stella going to be honest with him about her feelings? —are all the rest of the stories.

Lukas is a prince-charming version, but Stella is naive. All the characters are easy to love, except Stella.

I felt these sappy romances would not be succinct to the point; rather, they'd been predictable since the beginning. But, still, that's all I expected to read during the holiday season. The Christmasy vibes are a little less.

The first half was extremely boring. Then the second half picked up and made sense of the story. Also, it was exceptionally spicy. The spice rate is way too high, but it's an average read for me. If you are looking for a cosy + spicy read, this is the book for you. There is no takeaway from this book, and I felt at least the Christmas tree farm maintenance could have been mentioned with a little bit more science than just two lines.

Did you observe the million mentions of bottom lips and brown eyes? These two phrases literally annoyed me.

What's your favourite Christmas book? Or, what's your favourite hallmark movie if you've watched any?
