Sivy and I suddenly wanted to break the mundane city life to have a "US" time in different weather. So, we got away from the eleven to nine run-of-the-mill job which was slowly devouring us. So, we planned for Kodagu/Coorg trip.
Hence, In this post, I would be sharing our experience and the photos of the few places we visited.
Namdroling/Tibetan Monastery
|
Monastery Entrance in Kushal Nagar |
It was popularly called as Golden Temple because of the attracting tall gold-plated Buddha statues in the monastery.
|
Way to Golden Temple |

Red painted doors of Golden Temple |
|
Buddha Statues in Golden Temple |
|
Walls & Ceilings at Golden Temple |
The wall paintings depicted the Buddhist mythology, and I really loved the ceilings. This place was worth a visit as we had so many shopping centers in and around to buy Tibetan showpieces.
|
Doll from Monastery |
Isn't it such a cute pose to kick anyone who pokes their nose into others' privacy?
|
Garden in Monastery |
The landscaped gardening was undoubtedly a treat to eyes.
Raja Seat
|
Valley viewpoint |
It was refreshing visiting this viewpoint due to the mist. As the wind was too high, it didn't let us stand still to take pictures.
The rainy weather could make any couple romantic which deliberately ceased to think of why we visited.
|
Giraffe |
Wherever Sivy finds a Giraffe, he clicks me with his kind, but this was a way too tall.
Gaddige/Raja's Tomb
|
Gaddige |
We always loved the Indo-Saracenic style, so it was no wonder this tomb fascinated us.
|
Raja's Tomb at Madikeri |
Entering into the tomb was prohibited, but we were mesmerized by the classic style of architecture prevalent in India. Our first-day sight-seeing was ended, and we reached to Estate Guest House "Click Here".
Mandalpatti
|
The tree |
The next day was too adventurous by 4*4 wheeler Mahindra Jeep on the hilly terrain, and it was a complete off-road experience and bumpy that made us laugh throughout. The rugged pathway journey was around 45 minutes which led us to the breath-taking Mandalpatti hilltop.
|
Aren't the clouds near?? |
Though we reached late, we still experienced the mist, fog, and drizzling rain amidst the mountains. Nature is something immediately beautiful and exuberant, and we obviously witnessed the horizon.
|
Misty, foggy, Windy Madalpatti |
We completely loved the lush green mesmerizing place. The wind literally blew us away and took all our worries.
Abbey Falls
|
Abbey Falls |
The noise of the water was soothing music while we were climbing the stairs amidst the trees to reach the falls.
|
Wine |
There were few quick snack shops to snack also near the parking spot, and homemade wine was also available.
Nalkand Palace
The instructor of this palace took us every wall paintings inside the palace and narrated in a dramatic way.
|
Marriage Hall |
We stood there agape by seeing this stunning dilapidated marriage hall.
|
Stunning Beauty |
The hideout chamber was thought-provoking and scary. The most featured aspect of the palace was the underground bunker, and the palace was more like a strategic asset.
This palace also gave us the opportunity to witness going through a secret passage that was studied in history.
|
Front view |
The above view offered an alluring beauty from the outset, and we were awestruck.
|
From Entrance |
This interesting hideout in the hills, built at the end of the 17th century AD was worth the visit. It had its own charm and history to attract.
Vintage Cars
Our third day began from the Vintage Cars visit. Here, the cars are stacked one after the other, but the photos weren't good enough as the railings were in front of the cars.
|
Mofa |
People, who like VIP movie in Tamil, definitely love this bike in whatever condition it is.
|
Name says it all!! |
Nisargadhama
All I can say is Nisargadhama was a bamboo tree park, but we loved only the bridge which connects to the park. It was just a brief stop on the way to Dubare elephant camp, so If you are bored, you can find a lot of small shops outside to buy souvenirs which we seek out while traveling.
|
Fridge Magnets I collected ;-) |
I was too excited about giving bath to the elephants at Dubare when the trip was initially planned. Unfortunately this left a sad face on me as we reached after the closing time.
Sand Museum
It was en route to Chamundi Hills, and it showcased the talent of a young woman MN Gowri who created the sculptures with a lot of detailing.
|
Mahabaratha |
|
Egyptian Pharaohs |
|
Oceanic Land |
|
Skull Art |
|
Disney Land |
|
Christmas Season |
|
Wild Life |
We loved the place, and it was again worth the visit.
Fish Aquarium
Sivy is crazy about fish, so we just admired all the varieties of fish over here.
|
Tunnel Aquarium |
We took "Couple fish pedicure" as well, and it was worth the tickling and a must try.
We just drove to Chamundi Hills and glimpsed the Mysore city view. Entering into Brindhavan Garden just recollected my college memories, and as I suffered frostbite not to take further steps, we didn't roam in the garden. With this our trip ended, and we boarded the train taking all beautiful memories with us.
I hope this Kodagu trip inspired the wanderlust in you, so pack your backpack and share your memories soon ;-)
