Ikigai by Hector Garcia and Francesc Miralles

Cute book and a short read.

Ikigai constantly reminds me of the simple healthy habits that are easily being ignored by most in this 21st century. It also explains, injecting a little science, what would happen to one's body if one fails to follow them. It is substantially a reminder to instil those good habits.

The statement that the Ogimi village centenarians' physical & mental habits are the grounds for their longevity didn't persuade me at all, but Yuval Noah Harari's book 'Sapiens' fairly convinced me, revealing a few facts about the species 'Homo Erectus' that lived in the eastern regions 70,000 years ago, were the most durable species.

This book seems monotonous. Elementary truths, like wee stress and movements of the body keep anyone younger and healthier than someone who has a relaxed lifestyle, are reiterated. As most of the habits are hard to stick to, it offers a bunch of ways to help with keeping up these habits. Again, those ideas are also powerful.

So, as the book says, Ikigai is 'The Happiness of Always Being Busy'. However, it's more of a mindset.
